HISTORY

This development alarmed the government and sent the various defense agencies into a whirlwind of psychotic inventions, as the combined power of Mad Dog and Micropain would require too much force to subdue with conventional military weapons (historical note: the Cuban Missile Crisis was a manipulated media cover-up to explain the increased military actions and movments within the U.S. while looking for Mad Dog and Micropain).

The second project that directly impacted Mad Dog was the result of this activity, "Operation: Atomic el Lagarto", started in the mid-1970’s.  Due to the fact that human operated military hardware could be rendered useless by Micropain’s hallucinogenic telepathy-manipulations, the black-budget scientists infused an A. mississippiensis (American alligator) with a bionic exo-skeleton and equipped it with short-range tactical thermal nuclear weapons. This was a drastic measure, even by black-operational standards, but the fear that Mad Dog and/or Micropain could end up in enemy hands was too great of a risk to overlook.

The project was initially considered a success, as the nuclear-tipped lizard (aka Swampbuzz) was easy to control with a steady food supply of small rodents. In addition, the very nature of the American alligator was one of "search-and-destroy", in which their genetic make-up was a self-centered existence that had no qualms about killing the victim of its reptilian focus.

However, locating the elusive duo proved to be a daunting task that lasted for well over a decade. Mad Dog and Micropain seemed to evade government agents and the nuclear-armed Swampbuzz at every opportunity, no doubt a result of Micropain’s telepathic ability to mind-read. In addition, even in the few instances when the bionic-enhanced reptile was able to locate the fugitives, Mad Dog made sure that they were close enough to large population centers that rendered the use of tactical nuclear weapons as a non-optional choice. The last thing the government wanted was World War III and a nuclear holocaust as a result of their own inability to control their secret weapons projects.

The proto-type "Acid-Wolf" (aka Micropain) was specifically created to hunt down and exterminate Mad Dog, who the government deemed a threat to national security. However, what the government’s scientists failed to account for was the fact that both the proto-type "Acid-Wolf" (Micropain) and Mad Dog were members of the same species within the dog family, Canidae, of the order Carnivora. Micropain eventually located Mad Dog.  But, when his brainwaves telepathically connected to the Roböter Hünd’s cerebral cortex, Micropain realized that he was just another test subject in a black-budget weapons program. He had found a kindred spirit in Mad Dog, and they immediately joined as fugitives, hiding and running from various law enforcement agencies  and international bounty hunters.

During the ensuing decades long flight from various law enforcement agencies and international bounty hunters, Mad Dog discovered that he was not the only one that had been altered and created by top-secret projects of global destruction and world domination. The various governments of the world, through black-budget operations, were conducting experiments with many of the alien technologies first discovered in 1939.

Many of these projects were similar to the "Roböter Hünd" project in nature, as evil scientists working within these programs were infusing hydrogen-based life forms with many of the alien technologies in order to create über-weapons that could be utilized to control mankind and dominate the earth. Two of the projects within the U.S. government’s domain would have a direct impact on Mad Dog’s fugitive life.

The first project, "Operation: Acid-Wolf", was started in 1958 as part of the CIA’s original program with telepathology and Lysergsäure-Diäthylamid (an organic compound C20H25N3O that induces psychotic symptoms similar to those of schizophrenia -- called also lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD). The project consisted of infusing a Canis lupus specimen (North American gray wolf) with a telepathic ability to transmit a hallucinogenic manipulation into an enemy target’s brainwave patterns. The effect on the target alters perceptions by disrupting the action of the neurotransmitter serotonin, and the effects are most prominent in two brain regions: the cerebral cortex and the locus ceruleus.
